Ommegang Releases New “Game of Thrones” Ale

It’s no fun waiting until July to cover outside events, so when I saw that HBO and Brewery Ommegang were hosting a party in San Diego to celebrate the release of their new Game of Thrones themed beer, I jumped at the chance to attend. Held at the Tap Room in Pacific Beach, the release of Ommegang’s “Fire and Blood Red Ale” sold out within a few days of being announced. The event drew in a large crowd of Game of Thrones fans, as well as beer aficionados. Concurrent events were held in several cities this week (as announced on Ommegang’s Facebook page) with many a beer celebration taking place around the country. San Diego Symphony Announces It’s Comic-Con Concerts

Comic-Concerts?  Indeed! In the past few years the San Diego Symphony has held just one SDCC-related concert, usually on the Thursday night of Comic-Con. Last year it was “Distant Worlds: The Music from Final Fantasy” and in 2012 it was “The Legend of Zelda.”  This year, they’ve expanded their Summer Pops lineup during Comic-Con to three shows, including “Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton” and “Star Trek (2009) Film Screening with a Live Soundtrack Performed by the Symphony.” Also returning to the Pops is Video Games Live, which for the past two years has been a separate show.
