No badge is needed to see panels at Comic-Con International’s newest venue, the Artists’ Loft at BarrioHaus, located at 1616 National Avenue. The programming lineup at BarrioHaus is open to all, and is intended to bring the cultural enrichment and educational aspects of Comic-Con panels to the public, with a focus on Latinx culture and contributions to popular arts.

Thursday, 12-1PM: A Long Story Short: Mexican Comic Books
Luis Gantus (writer, The Incredible and Sad Story of the Naïve Historieta and the Heartless Industry) is joined by Daniel Garcia (editorial coordination, El Violin Negro) for a conversation about the fascinating story on Mexican comic books and how an industry was created and almost destroyed in the span of 50 years. Moderated by Sebastian Fink.
Thursday, 1-2PM: From Mexico to the USA, a Bridge One Comic at a Time
Joel Ojeda Lopez (The Death of Superman part one), Adalisa Zarate (Building Blocks), Adriana Rodriguez Leon (Studio XIII), Fers Sanchez (SoulKeepers), and Oscar Seal (coordinator, Draw Break) talk about the challenges and rewards of working with American editors and artists and how comics and animation create bonds between both countries.
