Comic-Con Outside Events Update for July 2

How is it July already!? What is going on?? OK, deep breaths. It will be fine.

Here’s some of the news from the past few days:

Geek & Sundry Confirms Return to Jolt’n Joe’s

The Geek & Sundry Lounge will be returning to Comic-Con on Thursday and Friday, July 24-25, for panels and gaming, plus their epic dance parties on both nights. Entry to all their events at Jolt’n Joes (379 4th Avenue) is free, however their parties will be 21+.

And what’s going on at the Lounge this year? Awesomeness! From video games to table top games, we’ve got it all. In the space will be Microsoft Surface, Wizards of The Coast, Logitech G, AMD (Dragon Age™: Inquisition), Japanime Games, CD PROJEKT RED (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), Black Magic Design, Loot Crate, Espionage Cosmetics, and more. Look for more info about what they’ll be up to soon, as well as our full schedule!

But wait, there’s more! We’ll also shine a spotlight on some of the new shows in development, including the return of the award-winning TableTopSpellslingers hosted by Sean “Day[9]” Plott, intergalactic action show Space JanitorsMorganville: The Series based on the best-selling young adult vampire franchise, and the recently released paranormal comedy series, Spooked. Cast panels, signings, cosplay, evening VIP parties and two official SDCC panels will round out the schedule, as more will be revealed closer to SDCC.

Nerdist Podcast Adds a 2nd Show

Due to the popularity of their 10:30pm show, the Nerdist Podcast, with Chris Hardwick, Matt Mira, and Jonah Ray, has added a 2nd show earlier in the evening, at 7:30pm on Saturday, July 26, at the Balboa Theatre. Tickets and Info can be found on the San Diego Theatres website.

Frodo Spins Some Beats

Actor Elijah Wood, along with cohort  Zach Cowie, form Wooden Wisdom and will be spinning at club Bang Bang on Thursday 7/24 starting at 9:30pm. Entrance is free before 10:30, but not guaranteed. You can also buy tickets for $10 to ensure entry: More Info.

The Lake-town Luau

And speaking of hobbits, the Tolkien fansite, TheOneRing.Net, is holding a Lake-town Luau at the Kona Kai Resort to celebrate the year of the final Hobbit installment. More details at their Eventbrite page and at TORn.

Coupons for Downtown Drinks & Eats

The SD Convention Center offers attendees coupons for restaurants in and around downtown. For many of the discounts you can either show your SDCC badge, or also present the coupon, which is great for non-badge-holders. Click here for the printable coupons!

Click on “All Events 2014” to your left and be directed to our wondrous outside events list. Just added new filtering features to be able to sort events by day, cost, and type.
